The Unconventional Wei-Ming PAK
Wei-Ming PAK is an independent choreographer and dancer. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance and Choreography. In 2013, he received a full DanceWEB scholar scholarship which allowed him to participate in the ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival. In 2014, he started to collaborate with US-based artist Trajal Harrell and performed The Ghost of Montpellier Meets the Samurai at Montpellier Dance Festival and Pompidou Centre in Paris.
As a recipient of the Hong Kong Dance Award Fellowship, he was commissioned by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance to choreograph Toilet Pump (2017). And was invited to stage Ocean Dance Festival in Bangladesh in 2019 and Istanbul Fringe Festival, Turkey. The recent choreographed and produced works of Pak include Commissioned by Hong Kong Arts Festival [Pomelo. Orange. Tangerine] , [900”], and [Interpretations 2] (2016) at 1st Shanghai Contemporary Dance Festival. He also created dance video works [INNERMOST], and choreography piece [TINT] for the City Contemporary Dance Company.
Pak was selected to join the representative group of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, to inspect the Internation Dance Fair -Tanzmesse 2016 &2018 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
